WOOL MARKETING

System Of Preference For America RUMOUR IN CAPITAL Special Correspondent WELLINGTON, Oct *. The story has gained ground her* that the Commonwealth Conference on wool marketing has agreed to a system of preference for the United States in the purchase of wool at auction. Under this system, United States buyers would be given an opportunity to choose certain wools they required and have them put aside before the sale. They would then join the other buyers at tha sale and take part in the normal auction system. The bales set aside before the sal* would be paid for at average prices, if similar wools were sold at th* auction. This system would give th* United States its desired opportunity of securing wools, which might otherwise find their way to Russia. The decisions of the conference will b* placed before Cabinet by the Minister of Marketing, Mr Holyoake, who i* scheduled to return by air to AudC« land tonight from London.
