DEPARTMENTAL HOUSES

Legal Status Of Employee

Tenants PALMERSTON N., Oct. 6

Whether air force personnel and Ministry of Works employees occupying departmental houses on an air force station did so under service occupancy, or as normal tenants, was debated at length in the Magistrate's Court before Mr J. R. Herd, S.M., today when the Air Department made an application for the fixing of fair rents in respect to 15 houses on the RNZAF station at Ohakea. The magistrate reserved his decision to enable the parties to place specific information before him on the terms of the contract signed by the personnel when accepting occupancy of a house.
