COMMUNITY SING
Plunket Society Appeal A GOOD ATTENDANCE There was another good attendance at the weekly community sing held yesterday in the St. James Theatre in aid of the Plunket Society. The proceeds amounted to £ll7, which included £4l for the United Nations Children’s Appeal Fund. Mr H. I. Sinclair thanked the Community Sing Committee for giving a day to the Plunket Society’s appeal. The guest performers were the singer, Mrs Avas MacFarlane, and Roi Don in a cameo of song and piano. A second donation of £3o—£2o for the United Nations Appeal for Children and £lO for the "Amputees ” —was sent from " Two Sisters,” of Timaru. The leader of the singing was Mr J F. Himburg, and his assistant was Mr L. Dunbar The pianist was Mi* A. H. Pettitt. Next week the sing will be in aid of the Lepers’ Fund. Donations and promises were:—£3o. “Two Sisters,” Timaru; £lO, T. Appeal); £2, “No Name," Owaka, W. McD. (Waikouaiti); £1 10s. "Mothers at Quendon,” patients and staff, Tapanui Hospital. With amounts £1 and under, including £4l for the United Nations Appeal Fund—total, £ll7.
