London Gas Strike Ended
NZPA—Reuter —Copyright LONDON, Oct. 5. London’s 20-day-old gas strike ended today. f jsarly this morning more than 1300 sailors and troops took over four of the city’s 17 strike-bound gasworks. This was followed by the announcement that all 10 leaders in the strike had been sentenced to one month’* imprisonment. The defendants were allowed bail on appeal. A mass meeting of the strikers was held in the afternoon to decide further action following the sentencing of their leaders. It was decided that the mett would return to work on Monday.
