MEN’S SOFTBALL

Matches Next Saturday At a well-attended meeting of the Otago Men's Softball Association held last night, it was decided to commence competition matches next Saturday for both first and second divisions. It was decided that teams must be ready to play within five minutes of the advertised time of commencing, otherwise they might default their matches. The Physical Welfare Branch offered assistance with the coaching of any junior team which was brought together by any of the clubs. It was decided that an Otago team be entered in the inter-provincial tournament to be conducted in Dunedin early in January of next year. ■ Umpires' Association Officers elected at the annual meeting of the Otago Softball Umpires’ Association last night were President, Mr J. D. Fairlie; vice-president, Mr W. Dickinson; secretary-treasurer, Mr S. R. Brown; delegate to OMSA, Mr S. R. Brown; examination panel, Messrs R. O. Johnson and L. D. Smith. It was decided that the association affiliate with the newly-formed New Zealand Softball Umpires’ Federation.
