COST OF HOSPITAL

Roxburgh Building Soars To £70,000 The estimated total cost of the Roxburgh Hospital is now £70,000. It had started off at about £30,000 and steadily increased, said the chairman of the Otago Hospital Board, Dr A. S. Moody, last night. A letter advising that a tender had been accepted was received from the Director-gen-eral of Health. Dr Moody reported that the contract called for the installation of a steamheating plant. “And that in the land where they are going to produce all the electricity! ”he added. After some discussion, during which it was mentioned that at least four Aremen, whose total wages would be about £3O a week, would be required, it was resolved to protest to the department about this clause in the contract.
