PORT OF AUCKLAND

High-salaried Post PA _ AUCKLAND, Sept. 26.

Mr Arthur Cecil Clarke, a member of the staff of the general manager of the Port of London Authority, and formerly one of the most senior port officers for the War Office Transport Directorate and Control Commission for Germany, was today appointed general manager of the Auckland Harbour Board. This newly-created post carries a salary of £3OOO a year, qne of the highest paid by any local body in New Zealand.

Mr Clarke was chosen from more than 130 applicants. He visited Auckland last month to be interviewed by the board. He will leave London for Auckland early in December.
