RACE FROM KAIKOURA

Taieri Homing Pigeon Club The Taieri Homing Pigeon Club on Saturday flew a 300-mile race from Kaikoura, where 80 birds from 16 lofts were liberated under dull conditions. The birds encountered heavy drizzle and south-west winds throughout the journey. The winning bird flew the distance in 9hr 56min 47sec. Results:—J. Thom’s Sam Bonny, 867yds a minute, 1; F. Johnson’s Old Pal, B§s, 2; E. Dee’s Blue Banner, 764, 3; E. Atkinson’s Black Magic, 749.3, 4. Another race will be flown from Kaikoura next Saturday.
