BRASS BANDS CONTEST

Events At Invercargill

Arrangements for the Otago-Southland provincial B and C Grade brass bands contest, which will be held at Invercargill on November 11, are now well in hand. The military quickstep competition will be held at Rugby Park during the afternoon and the hymn test selection in the Civic Theatre in the evening. A special train will probably run from Dunedin for the contests, and large crowds are expected at both sessions. Entries received to date are:—B Grade: Caversham Citizens’ Band, Band of the Ist Battalion of the Otago-Southland Regiment. C Grade: Dunedin Ladies' Brass Band, Alexandra Brass Band, Kaitangata Brass Band, Port Chalmers Marine Band, Dunedin Watersiders’ Marine Band, Green Island Municipal Brass Band.
