Older Type Homes In Demand Several property auctions were held yesterday, and for the cheaper and older type of home bidding was spirited. Two houses were sold by John Reid and Sons, Ltd. in the company's rooms. One house, an old-type cottage of five rooms in very poor condition and lacking electric light and hot water, was sold for £750. Bidding started at £4OO, and rose in £SO bids to £650, and then by bids of £25. The house is situated at 22 Havelock street, Mornington. The section is of 14.5 poles.

The firm also sold a similar type of four-roomed house, also on 14 poles of land, at 22 Forbes street, Maryhill. Bidding started at £4OO and rose in £SO bids to £6OO, in £25 bids to £650, and in £lO and £5 bids to £745, at which price it was knocked down. Alex Harris, Ltd., offered a property at auction in their rooms. It is situated at 42 Calder street, North-East Valley. It is an old villa-type cottage of four rooms and scullery. There was a large attendance and bidding throughout was brisk, the property finally selling for £1350.

N. and E. S. Paterson and Co., Ltd., offered a house prooerty of three floors in Queen street. The attendance at the auction was small. Bidding rose to £3OOO, but the property was then withdrawn for private sale.
