Seventh-day Adventist Membership

The world membership of the Seventhday Adventist Church doubled during each decade since 1863. For the four years since 1945 a total of 233,166 men and women were baptised and received into church fellowship. This was an increase of 70,898 over the previous fourvear period. New missionaries sent out between 1945 and 1949 total 1235, bringing the church's foreign missionary forces to 24 391. The Adventist Church is established in 228 countries in 700 spoken languages and dialects. These figures are revealed in the statistical summary presented at the quadrennial session of the world-wide General Conference held in San Francisco in July, a copy of which has been received by officers of the Dunedin Adventist Church.
