WORK COMMENDED

League For Hard Of Hearing

PA AUCKLAND, Sept. 25. Warm praise for what they had seen already of the work of the New Zealand League for the Hard of Hearing was expressed by Professor A. G. Ewing and Mrs Ewing at the reception given to them by the league tonight. They are world authorities on the education of deaf people and have been invited to New Zealand by the Government. They have already begun a study of what is being done here.

Both Professor and Mrs Ewing, each an expert in their field, emphasised that skill in lip-reading should accompany the use of hearing aids for a full understanding of speech. Professor Ewing also discussed some of the problems which still had to He faced in helping deaf people. Both guests were made honorary life members of the New Zealand League.
