Plunket Shield Team CENTRAL DISTRICTS ASSOCIATION The Otago Plunket Shield team is to play a side from the newly-formed Central Districts Cricket Association at Carisbrook late in February. This was decided by the committee of the Otago association at a meeting last night. A letter from the northern association stated that a suitable arrangement had been made with Auckland and that it could now play Otago either in January or in February. It was decided to play the match during the latter month and a date was tentatively fixed for the week-end of February 17. .This means that Otago will have two home matches and two away this season. The game with the minor associations will a three-day fixture. The convener of the Grounds Committee, Mr H. R. Cameron, reported that some of the grounds at Logan Park and the University Oval were now being top-dressed and that the prospect of making an early start this year was bright. “ Our main objective is to get four wickets ready as soon as possible,” Mr Cameron said. A letter was received from the Otago State Primary Schools Sports Association asking for the use of the University Oval on November 11. Because a two-day match might be adversely affected on that date it was decided to ask the association to change the fixture to November 18. It was also pointed out that more grounds should be available later in that month.
