CATCHMENT BOARD

Sir,—lt is high time the ratepayer* woke up to the useless expenditure of public money by the Catchment Board. They try to make people believe they can stop floods, but that is impossible unless they are as clever as they make out to be, and they lower the sea, for the rivers and gravel, can’t get away. One member said there were thousands of tons of gravel travelling in the Molyneux River. How can he tell? They say the Baldlutha residents take little interest in the Catchment Board. They know very well that they would only be throwing their money away. Abolish the Catchment Board by all means, before it io too late.—l am, etc., Save Expense.
