LAWN TENNIS SCHEME
Sir,—With regard to the scheme set out by the Otago Lawn Tennis Association, I should like to draw the attention of all tennis players to the question. Are all players going to be allowed to play on the courts once they are laid flown, or is it just to be the top few?" After all it will be the ordinary player who will be paying the major portion of the cost. Will the association give a written statement to the effect that all players will be permitted to use the courts? Another pertinent point is the question of the proposed increase in the levy from 5s 6d to 10s. Once the association has obtained this, increase how long will it remain in force? The plea might be the expense incurred in upkeep, but why not use the system of “ pay as you This would entail extra work in collecting money, but it is the only fair way. Before voting on the proposals set before us by the association I would ask all Diavers to consider these facts. —I am, e t c Ordinary Player.
[" The association would be only too pleased to answer any questions about th® proposed grass courts scheme," a spokesman for the Otago Lawn Tennis Association said. If application was made to the secretary, Mr J. W. Wilson, Savoy Buildings, a member of the executive of the association would go to any club In Dunedin and give a full account of ttoa scheme.—Ed.
