9 Reception Improved POWER BOARD’S PLANT A radio serviceman from Dunediji had spent two days testing and advising the board on the alterations necessary to improve two-way radio reception, the engineer, Mr N. A. Davidson, stated at the monthly meeting of the Waitaki Electric Power Board yesterday. The board could now transmit and receive to and from the power house to as far as Hakataramea township. Temporary communication lines were connected between Cape Wanbrow and the power house for testing for the best radio reception site in Oamaru for the board’s plant. If the present receiver was satisfactory it was proposed to erect permanent masts on Cape Wanbrow. Mr A. B. Lang was in the chair, and those present were Messrs A. H. H. Pearce, J. I. McEwan, M. F. E. Cooney, D. E. Neave, G. O. Pringle and J. Gerrie. The secretary, Mr R- R. Brown, reported that sales of electricity for June amounted to £11,934, an increase of £66 over that of June, 1949. For the three months ended June 30. sales totalled £23,497, compared with £23,085 for the corresponding period last year.
