FUNERAL ON FRIDAY

Sir Apirana Ngata PA GISBORNE, July 15. The funeral of Sir Apirana Ngata will take place next Friday at the Puputa burial ground. The Prime Minister, Mr Holland, will attend the final stages of the obsequies. Delegations from all the Maori tribes of the North and South Islands will begin to assemble early in the week for the traditional tangi. The casket containing the remains of Sir Apirana has been removed from his old home at “The Bungalow” to to Porourangi meeting house. On Monday a special building will be ready and the casket will lie in it through the public and inter-tribal ceremonies leading to the funeral.
