SWAYUP TO BE SOLD

Dunedin Guineas Winner

Swayup, who. was bred at the Salisbury Stud by Mr L. C. Hazlett and purchased as a yearling for 170 guineas by Messrs B Dooley and W. A. Young at the Wingatui bloodstock sales, is to be sold at Riccarton on June 15 to dissolve the partnership. A three-year-old by Sir Galloway from the Defaulter mare. Petacci, Swayup showed his class when he easily accounted for the field in the John Grigg Stakes and led all the way in the Dunedin Guineas to beat Beaumaris, the leading three-year-old, by a neck. Swayup was taken to the New Zealand Cup meeting and he went under very narrowly to the champion filly, Sweet Spray, in the Stewards’ Handicap, which was run in near-record time. Swayup did not train on, however, and he failed at the Auckland Cup meeting. He showed some of his earlier dash at the Great Autumn meeting, but he did not win a race. He should show good form as a sprinter next season.
