RABBIT CONTROL
Sir,—l see by the Times that Cabinet has decided on a continuation of the "killer” policy as constituted under the Labour Administration, and I must admit, along with thousands of other farmers and taxpayers, that I am sadly disillusioned with their interpretation of the word ” killer,” and sincerely hope this is not a sample of their capabilities in handling other serious problems confronting New Zealand today. At public meetings held recently the " killer ” policy as constituted today, with the use of the taxpayers’ money for rabbit destruction, was referred to as the most noxious form of subsidy ever introduced by. the Socialist Government, and was strongly condemned by farmers ana taxpayers in general, as a shocking waste of public money. As a farmer and a taxpayer, I ask, through your paper, that Mr Holyoake, as Minister of Agriculture, before continuing this wasteful expenditure of the taxpayers’ money, should -tell the country what miracle is likely to happen, or what reason'he has to believe that these boards will be a success in the fU Waftahuna m ’ B. McCorklndale.
