Auckland Waterfront PA AUCKLAND. May 17. Because the Waterside Workers’ Union refused to send representatives, the committee formed to avert the 7j per cent, surcharge on cargo for Auckland decided that it could not function and adjourned after a brief meeting. The committee has until July 1 to find means of speeding the turn-round of ships which would avoid the imposition of the surcharge. The committee adjourned to give the Minister of Labour, Mr Sullivan, an opportuinty to take steps to ensure full representation.
