Central Mission Jubilee TRIBUTE TO FOUNDER A tribute to the Rev. William Ready, who inaugurated the Methodist Central Mission 60 years ago, was paid by the Rev. L. B. Neale in a service of commemoration and thanks held on the ' balcony of the Town Rail for the benefit of passing citizens on Saturday night. On a Saturday night in April, 1890, people passing through the Octagon L .-j heard a young man singing, said Mr . Neale. He was Mr Ready, Gradually • a crowd gathered and Mr Ready sang “ Where is My Wandering Boy To--.night ” and “ Sinner How Thy Heart is Troubled.” That was the beginning of the Methodist Central Mission. Mr Neale outlined the life story of Mr Ready who was a waif of the London streets, having been born in a London • workhouse. The Central Mission choir under Mr R. Hughes sang “ Onward Christian -Soldiers” and a prayer of thanksgiving and commoration was offered by • the Rev. W. E. Falkingham.
