RADIO SPORTS SESSIONS
Sir, —On Saturday night, May 6, Station 4ZB at 6.45 p.m. commenced its Sports session. As this was sponsored, the firm’s advertisement has to be read. This was followed by four full race card results, with dividend prices, and the other meetings were covered from the “ first leg of the double ’’ to the end. At 6.57 p.m., local Rugby results for two grade. First and Second, were read, followed i>y Oamaru, Christchurch, Wellington and Invercargill Rugby. Then came Dunedin Soccer, First and Second Grade, men’s hockey, First and Second Grade, and the Green Island Cycling Club’s race. Then came the advertisement and close of session at 7.1. . Now, I think it is time that this station gave local sports a better hearing on Saturday night. 1 1 know that one summer sports body which used to send in full details of its results on a special form discontinued this practice owing to the unsatisfactory hearing the results were given. How many other sports bodies sent in results on Saturday, only to have them “forgotten and then scantilydealt with in Sunday’s “ Sports Digest*’ Which was “ not going to be a sports results session ’’ when It first commenced? I suggest that as 4YA is the stronger station, and their session for sports commences at 7 p.m., they cover the race results and country sports and local, if time permits, and leave the local sports to 4ZB. Then we can get a fair hearing. —I am, etc.. Be Fair to All.
