Sir —A perusal, of Mrs Boswell’s articles connected with my quotations would convince your readers that H. Gow is guilty of misinterpretation. I do not expect Miss Gow to go into raptures over the great service rendered by Gouzenko to the whole world when he exposed the Soviet espionage network in Canada, nor do I expect her to appreciate the fact that by risking his life to serve mankind he probably saved the world from another blood bath, planned by the treacherous agents of Communism. “ Rattar ” says Russia is a great nation that is doing a job for civilisation, and lan Jamieson writes similar nonsense. But history tells a different story. Are the advocates of Communism proud of the deeds in the 1917 Revolution, when the gutters in Petrograd ran with blood, and men, women, and innocent children -■ were shot down like mad dogs? Official figures reveal that 1,766,118 persons were executed during this terrible purge, and 7,000,000 orphaned children were left to • their fate—to live or die in the gutter like wild animals. Jan Marsaryk, after a visit to the Kremlin in 1947, told how the Krem- * lin forced • the leaders of a small nation to submit —or else. He gave the story of how, under Communism a nation can die, and a cringing satellite be bom. On May 7 of this year 191 evilsmelling, louse-ridden German prisoners on their return from Russia told of their gruesome experiences in Russian slave camps, of German women in thousands working in coal mines standing in water up to their waists. They told of the thousands of ghosts they left ’behind and the thousands that have died from starvation and ill-treatment.and of the 1,500,000 prisoners and civilians who will never return, as they have either died or disappeared from sight behind the Iron Curtain. * I would conclude by reminding your readers that fellow travellers and Communist sympathisers can be extremely dangerous to the internal security of our country. They are constantly seeking to destroy the freedoms we enjoy. It is our duty to protect our heritage from these traitors who call themselves Communists. Are we doing it?—l am etc., Matilda.
