IMPORT LICENSING

Abolition Of Dead-line Dates Urged PA AUCKLAND, May 13. One of the factors contributing to port congestion at Auckland and the resultant slow turn round of ships is the present fixed dead-line date for the end of import licensing periods, says the Bureau of Importers. The bureau has forwarded a resolution to this effect to the Minister of Labour, Mr Sullivan. The bureau considers that the licensing of all goods from the sterling area should be abolished, as was done by Australia three years ago. Failing this, dead line dates should be erased.
