Exciting Game With Pirates TRAINING COLLEGE WINS • ✓ New life was given to the Otago Rugby Football Union’s senior competition on Saturday by Taieri’s fine victory over Pirates by 11 points to 6 when these two hitherto unbeaten teams met before a crowd of over 2000 at Carisbrook. It was Taieri’s first appearance at Rugby headquarters this season, and playing with great dash in the second half it scored a popular win. This placed Taieri at the head of the competition table as the other unbeaten team, University A, did not play on Saturday, followed by Pirates, University A and Training College two points behind. Training College had a comfortable win against Port Chalmers by 21 points to 8, but Southern was hard pressed to beat Alhambra by 6 points to 3; Dunedin, which has had a lean patch lately, suffered another reverse, this time at the hands of Zingari-Richmond, which made better use of its opportunities to win by 6 points to nil. Kaikorai had a narrow win over Union by 12 points to 9. The games were played in dull weather, and the grounds were soft after rain.

The results were:— Taieri 11, Pirates 6. Training College 21, Port Chalmers 8. Zingari-Richmond 6, Dunedin nil. Kaikorai 12, Union 9. Southern 6, Alhambra 3. The match between University A and University B will be played as a curtain-raiser to the First Test match on May 27. Position Of Teams
