SOME DISCONNECTED

Auckland Consumers PA AUCKLAND, Apl. 5. Several consumers of the Waitemata Electric Power Board have been disconnected this week for exceeding their quotas. In most cases, part of the installation is involved and has been cut off for a period long enough to make up for the excess consumption. The 10 per cent, power savings required are not being made by the consumers" of the Auckland, Franklin and Waitemata Power Boards. Hopes that most of these savings were being achieved were dashed when reports were presented to the joint committee of the three boards today. It was then shown that savings by the Auckland and Franklin Boards for Monday and Tuesday were less than half of the amount required, while the Waitemata Board achieved only about a third of its target. Considerably greater efforts than have been made so far will be necessary if the voluntary system is to prove successful.
