COMPLETION OF CENTENNIAL MEMORIAL ON SIGNAL HILL

A further step towards the completion of the New Zealand Centennial Memorial on Signal Hill will be taken this week when Mr

F. A. Shurrock, the Christchurch sculptor, will consult with Dunedin architects and the Centennial Committee concerning the work still to be done on the memorial. Mr Shurrock is at present visiting Dunedin and will meet the Centennial Committee tomorrow morning. Another city memorial in which Mr Shurrock is interested is that which will be erected in First Church grounds to the Rev. Dr Thomas Burns. Mr Shurrock, in collaboration with Mr A. L. Salmond, Dunedin architect, was responsible for the design that has been accepted for this memorial. It will replace the monument which was erected to Dr Burns in the Octagon and demolished some time ago.
