SPREYDON HANDICAP

Smart Trotters To Meet The main interest in the Spreydon Handicap at Addington on Saturday will no doubt be centred In the meeting of Sure Charge and Bold Salute, both of whom have built up good records this season, with Sure Charge outstanding. Sure Charge, a six-year-old gelding by Light Brigade from Willow Dene, by Quite Sure from Realeen, by Real Guy, has been started nine times for seven wins and a second, having been unplaced only once, and that was in the February Handicap, at Auckland. He broke when he was out in front. On the second day of the meeting, however, he won a double, the Manurewa Handicap, of one mile and a-half, in which he went 3min 19 2-ssec from a 3.32 mark, and the St. Andrew’s Handicap, of two miles, being handicapped on 4.42 and recording 4min 29sec. Bold Salute has won five of his last nine races and has been placed in two of the others. His most recent win was in the Introductory Handicap, of two miles, at the Canterbury Park meeting at New Year and he went 14sec inside his assessment. Bold Salute is a six-year-old gelding by Springfield Cflobe from Merce Bingen, by Nelson Bingen from Merce, by Galindo. Another consistent performer in' the field is Ripcord and he may follow Sure Charge and Bold Salute in the order of favouritism'.
