Expansion And Re-equip-ment Planned DEFENCE CHIEFS MEET Rec. 9.50 p.m. VIENNA, Apl. 4. Russia is now holding an important military conference with her Eastern European satellites at Budapest, according to information reaching Vienna. The Ministers for Defence of each Cominform country are attending the talks under the cover of celebrations of the fifth anniversary of the Red Army’s entry into Hungary. The objectives of the conference are believed to be:— 1. Co-ordinate the expansion and reequipment of the Cominform armies in 1950. Show the Western world and Tito the military unity of the Cominform. 3. Plan increased “frontier pressure ” against Yugoslavia this spring.
