DRAWN MATCH

Waitaki And Christchurch Boys CRICKET AT OAMARU Special to the Daily Tim'S OAMARU, Mar. 22. The match between the Waitaki Boys’ and Christchurch Boys’ High Schools, which was concluded at Waitaki yesterday, resulted in a draw. Continuing its first innings with the overnight score of five wickets down for 58, Christchurch was dismissed for 94, 58 runs behind the Waitaki total. Waitaki batted a second time, and declared its innings closed with 179 runs for eight wickets. Carleton batted well for 72, and Bennett delighted the crowd with some hard hitting for 42. Christchurch, which was placed in the hopeless position of requiring 252 runs to win, scored confidently, and at the close of play had lost three wickets for 87 runs. Plumb being 37 not out and Currie 27. The second eleven’s match resulted in an outright win for Christchurch by six wickets. After being seven wickets down for 20 runs at stumps, Waitaki staged a gallant recovery, and its score reached 100 before the side was dismissed. Waitaki was forced to follow on, however, and its second innings realised 154 (Jones 74), which left Christchurch 19 runs to score an outright win, which it did for the loss of four wickets.
