DEFENCE RIFLES The Oamaru Defence Rifle Club will hold a practice shoot at 500 and 600 yards at the Federal range on Saturday. The Ngapara Club will hold a further round in the J. B. Reid Challenge Cup and Handicap Aggregate. ATHLETICS The annual Otago and Southland interschool athletic championships will be held in Dunedin on Saturday. Teams from the Waitaki Boys’ High School and St. Kevin’s College will take part. MEN’S GOLF ■ A Four-ball Stableford Aggregate, seniors with junior partners, will be played by the North Otago Men's Golf Club on Saturday, commencing at 12.30 p.m. RUGBY FOOTBALL The Rugby season in North Otago will commence on Saturday, when the Excelsior Football Club will hold its official opening for the 1950 season. HOMING PIGEONS The Oamaru Homing Pigeon Club will fly a further race in its young bird programme from Ashburton on Saturday. LAWN TENNIS A further lawn tennis representative match will be played on Saturday, when Otago will meet North Otago at the grass courts at 10.30 a.m.
