Harvey Tops Batting Averages

The 21-year-old left-hander, Neil Harvey, headed the batting averages in the Australian cricket tour of South Africa. His fellow-Victorian, Bill Johnston—also a left-hander—won the team’s bowling honours. The leading first-class averages were:—
Batting.—l. Harvey, 1526 runs at an average of 76.3; A. L. Hassett, 889, average 68.3; A. R. Morris, 1411, average 58.7; J. Moroney, 1331, average 55.4; K. Archer, 698, average 43.6; S. Loxton, 809. average, 40.4; K. R. Miller, 577, average 38.4; C. McCool, 438, average 29.2. Bowling.—Bill Johnston, 56 wickets, at an average of 13.7; R. Lindwall, 50 wickets, average 14.5; G. Noblet, 38 wickets, average 14.6; K. R. Miller, 44 wickets, average 16.5; lan Johnson, 73 wickets, average 16.6; S. Loxton, 12 wickets, average 18; C. McCool, 51 wickets, average 19.1; A.
