Ministerial The Minister of Works and Railways, Mr Goosman. arrived in Dunedin yesterday afternoon from Invercargill, after meeting a number of deputations at various centres on the journey north. He is accompanied by Mr E. R. McKillop, Commissioner of Works, and by his private secretary, Mr Janes. The Minister will be engaged meeting deputations throughout today and tonight. He will leave for Oamaru and Timaru on Thursday morning.
Mr Justice Tyndall, who will preside at a sitting of the Arbitration Court today, arrived in Dunedin yesterday. Mr V. Nikolaison was elected chairman and Messrs J. Kingsland and A. D. McDonald were elected deputy chairmen at the annual meeting of the Dunedin junior section of the National Party. , „ Mr George Stevenson, of Dacre, Southland, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Farmers' Mutual Insurance Association and also of the Farm Accounting Association of New Zealand (Inc.). Mr Stevenson is a well-known farmer in Southland and, in addition to being on the Southland and Dominion Executives of Federated Farmers, is the Dominion chairman of the Federated Farmers’ Agricultural Committee. Mr V. F. Allen, of Gore, has been appointed resident inspector for the Farmers’ Mutual Insurance Association. Mr Allen was formerly resident inspector at Gore for the New Zealand Insurance Company.
