“ Stop-Leopold ” Strikes In Belgium

NZPA—Copyright BRUSSELS, Mar. 20.

A Socialist-inspired “ stop-Leopold ” strike by more than 15,000 dock workers began today in Antwerp, one of Europe’s largest ports. A spokesman for the Belgian Federation of Labour said that the 24-hour “ stop-Leopold ” strikes—gestures of protest against the possible return of King Leopold to the throne—would not be allowed to interfere with the arrival of arms shipments from the United States. Nearly 60 ships are being held up by the strike—the third anti-Leopold Labour move in the last four days.
