WOMEN'S BOWLING
OAMARU SINGLES TOURNAMENT TWENTY-SIX QUALIFY Special to the Daily Times OAMARU, Feb. 16. Brilliant sunshine prevailed for the Singles on the third day of the women's bowling tournament at Oamaru, and the greens were very keen, with a moderate wind. Out of an entry'of 70 players, 26 qualified either as section winners with three wins, or in section' ties with two wins. Section play was completed at midday, and as players became available, all three competitions—Fours, Pairs and Singles—were proceeded with. The finals will be played at Phoenix tomorrow. Results

Quarter-finals. —Mrs Keen 15, Mrs Kemp 13; Mrs Black 17, Mrs Forth 9; Mrs Haub 14, Mrs Adams 12; Mrs Jamieson 21, Mrs Nimmo 8. In the semi-finals, Mrs Keen (Meadowbank) beat Mrs Black (Waimate) 12 —11, and Mrs Jamieson (Phoenix) beat Mrs Haub (Dunedin) 15—8. The two Oamaru competitors met in a keenly contested final, the title going to Mrs Keen who beat Mrs Jamieson 16—14. Two' pairs games were completed, Mesdames Crisp and Kemp (Phoenix) defeated Mrs Crawford and Miss Gray (NEV) 12—10, and Mesdames Stevens and Kirk (Waimate) beat Mesdames Tamblyn and Murphy (St. Clair) 17—8.
