SUDDEN FIRE OUTBREAK
SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION IN WOOL ROOM PA NEW PLYMOUTH, Jan. 23. Started by spontaneous combustion in a heap of sorted wool, a sudden raging fire swept through a new wool room at the Waitara freezing works of Thomas Borthwick and Sons Australia, Ltd., shortly before 10.20 last night. Although it was brought under control in less than 40 minutes, and mainly extinguished within another hour, a large quantity of wool was burned and extensive structural damage done to the room, which was only re No lt reliable P estlmate of the damage could be obtained today, but it is known that many thousands of pounds weight of wool was burned and that the steel-supported roof will rec iuire extensive reconstruction.
