CHILD DIES
FOOD POISONING THREE OTHERS IN HOSPITAL PA AUCKLAND, Jan. 23. A girl, aged eight, who was admitted to the Auckland Hospital on Saturday night suffering from food poisoning, died last night. She was Lesley Eades, of Railway Terrace, Manurewa. The child's ■ grandmother. Mrs Sarah McGaw, aged about 70, of the same address, who was admitted to hospital with the same complaint, is in a serious condition.
With her aunt and grandmother, the child had an ordinary meal at a relative’s house in Devonport on Friday night. They returned home to Manurewa that evening, and later all three became ill. A doctor was called on Saturday, and, in the evening, the girl and her grandmother were sent to hospital, the aunt remaining at home in bed.
Two more persons were admitted to hospital today. They were Mrs Ethel Beattie, aged 51, of Devonport, at whose home the meal was eaten, and Mrs Alice Peafl Edwards, of Manurewa. Their condition tonight was not serious.
