ELECTION TODAY SITTING OFFICERS OPPOSED Voting in the election of officers of the Dunedin branch of the New Zealaud Tramways Union will take place today, and the results will be announced at-the annual meeting of the branch on Sunday. , Interest in this election has reached a high pitch. In addition to the circulars published by a candidate for the office of president and by the present executive, the claims and . “ policy statements” of nominees for offices in the*union have been set out in circulars which have been distributed to members of the union. The most recent issue, entitled _ Exposure the Second —A Reply,” is an answer to the claims made by the executive of the union, which followed a meeting on' December 22, at which a move was made to set up a full list of candidates to oppose the present executive. The candidates who have come forward to oppose the president, Mr W. B. Richards, and members qf the “sitting” executive are: —Presidency, Mr A. F. Baskett; vice-presidency. Mr G Silver; motormen’s representative, Mr D Solway; conductors’ representatives, Messrs J. Lobb and R McArley; representative on National Council of the Tramways Union, Mr Baskett; representative on Otago Trades Council, Mr Baskett; representatives on Otago Labour Representation Committee—Messrs C. Varcoe. H. Varcoe and W. Whitty.
