ANGLO-SOVIET TRADE

LONG-TERM AGREEMENT ' EXPECTED NZPA—Copyright

Rec. 9.40 p.m. LONDON Dec. 29. The diplomatic correspondent of the Daily Herald says rßitain and Russia are expected to sign a long-term trade agreement in the next few weeks. Until now trade between the two countries has been on a year-to-year basis. The new pact is likely to cover five years, and this will offer much wider scope for trade. Russia will send timber food (mainly canned fish), and raw materials. Britain will supply machinery and give Russia facilities for buying wool, tin, and other materials from the sterling area.
