Special to the Dally Times MILTON, Dec. 18. CRICKET

In the second last game of the northern section competition and the last before the holidays, Milton A beat Waihpla on the Milton ground. Batting first, Waihola compiled 128, the principal contributors being L. Grellett (34 not out) A. Sinclair (30), L. Andrews (26) and M. Popham (14). K. Hitchen was again in great form with the ball, sending down 18 overs, seven of which were maidens, and taking eight wickets for 27 runs. Milton passed the visitors’ total before the fall of the fourth wicket and went on to score 191 for eight wickets at stumps. E. Scott retired after scoring 44, A. Murray retired with 39 and other double figure contributors were R. Hood (21), S. McFarlane (20), G. Sim (19), K. Hitchon (13), W Heads (11 not out) and K. Fahey (10). Clutha B declared its innings closed with 230 for seven wickets in the match against Milton B. L. Guest was undefeated with 84 including two 6’s and 10 boundaries. S Wright contributed a neat half-century, E Reid 42, G. Hansen 16 not out and H Dalgety 15. A first-year player, F. Halba, bowled well to take five wickets for 54 runs, while W. Dee took two for 58 Batting for Milton, W. Arbuckle followed up his century of last week with a score of 58 in the teams total of 147. Dee scored an unbeaten 35, W. Murray 14 and E. Thomson 12. The seventh wicket fell at 147 and the last three wickets fell without addition to the score, L. Guest being the destructive element, taking four wickets for no runs with six balls in the last over of the day. He took five wickets in the innings for Jo. A. Dunn took two for 19 and G. Hansen one for 24. TENNIS Milton had an easy win against Benhar in a B Grade tennis match at Milton on Saturday, winning 14 sets to 2.
