STOCK LICKS

Sir, —It is rather a shame that farmers in general are not better instructed regarding certain remedies which they might use. Some farmers make up mineral licks to their own recipe and include phenothiazine. Given this way, the drug is absolutely useless for the purpose it is intended, this is, eradication of stomach and intestinal parasites, the main reasons being that the consumption of lick is inadequate to ensure an effective rate of dose, and some animals do not touch the lick the whole season. The only way to use this drug is to give in one complete dose the required quantity. Any veterinarian, if asked, will give the same opinion. Farmers would be well advised to contact their veterinarian before making up a lick containing phenothiazine.—l am, etc.. Farmer.
