Inquiry Into British Air Accidents

Rec. 9 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 8:{ The Government is expected to reject the Opposition demand that a statutory court should be set up to inquire into the causes of future air accidents.
The Attorney-generai, Sir Hartley Shawcross, will state the Government view of this proposal in today’s House of Commons debate, which arises out of the Minister of Civil Aviation, Lord Pakenham’s action m dissenting from the findings of the Court of Inquiry into the Prestwick air disaster. , s
The Attorney-general is expected to defend the present system by whicn courts are appointed by, and report to, the Minister of Civil Aviation, says the political correspondent of the, Daily Telegraph. The Opposition wants-a court to be established whose conclusions should be accepted as final. They will maintain that confidence -in the present system has been undermined by Lord Pakenham’s action.
