WEDDING IN PICTON

Pickering—Breayley

The wedding in Picton on December 1, of Miss Ngaire Elizabeth Breayley, third daughter of Mr and Mrs J. A. Breayley, of Picton, to Bruce Raymond, only son of Mr and Mrs K. J. Pickering, Maori Hill, Dunedin, attracted many guests from North Auckland to Southland. The service was conducted in Holy Trinity Church, Picton by the Rev. E. O. Harding, and Mr Colin Rouse, of Wellington, cousin of the bridegroom, assisted as organist, with Mrs Thomson, jnr., of Ward, as soloist. The bride’s charming gown of tinsel marquisette featured a long circular train, and her beautifully embroidered tulle veil was held in position with orange blossom. She carried a trailing bouquet of white orchids and lilies Misses Mary and Joan Breayley, sisters of the bride, and Miss Alma Pickering, Dunedin, sister of the bridegroom, attended as bridesmaids. Their attractive frocks were of pastel springgreen nylon over taffeta, with hats of the same material, and they carried bouquets of orchids in lavender, pink, and lemon shades. Miss Jennifer Northover, small niece of the bride, presented a floral horse-shoe to the bride as she left the church. The reception was held in the beautiful grounds of Picton Lodge, where the guests were received by Mrs Breayley, wearing a charming ensemble of shell pink moss crepe with navy accessories and a spray of pink orchids. She was assisted by Mrs Pickering, who wore a cinnamon ensemble with nigger brown accessories and a spray of autumn-tinted orchids. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr Tom Sewell, of Christchurch, with .Mr Peter Scoular and Mr Fred Doidge, both of Christchurch as groomsmen. Miss Lois Pickering, twin sister of the bridegroom wore a royal blue frock. Her hat was white ostrich plumes and royal blue veiling Miss Nola Pickering wore a powder blue dress. The future home of the bride and bridegroom, will be in Tanganyika, East Africa, where the bridegroom, a recent graduate of the Otago University School of Mines, has been appointed Inspector of Mines.
