FAREWELL TO PASTOR

MORAY PLACE CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH The pastor of Moray Place Congregational Church, the Rev. F. de Lisle, Is to retire shortly from active work in the ministry for health reasons, and on Wednesday night, in the Jubilee Hall. Mr and Mrs de Lisle were tendered a farewell social by a large number of members and friends.

Representatives of widely-different interests were introduced to the meeting by the chairman, Mr W. J. McFaul, ana all spoke of the high esteem in which Mr and Mrs de Lisle were held in the community. The following speakers addressed the meeting:—Cr R. F. Barr (Dunedin City Council). Dr A. L. Haddon (National Council of Churches), Dr S. F. Hunter, Mr C. W, Clark (Otago Amateur Athletic Association), the Rev. J. B. Chambers (Port Chalmers Church), the Rev. I. P. Gordon (United Church), and Mr R. H. Henderson (Moray Place Church). The secretary of the church, Mr J. A. McCall, presented Mr de Lisle with a wallet containing money, and Mrs de Lisle was presented with a travelling bag by Mrs R. H. Henderson on behalf of the women of the congregation. During the evening items were given by the choir and a vocal solo by Mr V. B. Smith. The accompanist was Mr P. Upton Harvey.
