MR NORDMEYER'S SERVICES

“It is only proper that the council, as a council, should express its appreciation of the services of Mr Nordmeyer during his 14 years of office,” said the Mayor, Mr M. F. E. Cooney, at last night’s meeting of the Oamaru Borough Council. “No member has served the community more conscientiously and efficiently than has Mr Nordmeyer. He was always helpful when representations were made to him.” Speaking of the period when the Gasworks on the foreshore were endangered by erosion, Mr Cooney said that Mr Nordmeyer had taken up the matter with Urgency, and but for this the retort house might have collapsed. On Mr Cooney’s motion, the town clerk was instructed to draft a suitable minute.
