LUCK OF THE GAME

Whangarei Owner’s Option • Over Foxzami Honeywoofl, dam of the Melbourne Cup winner, Foxzami, was raced by Mr L. Adams, of Whangarei, during the 1943-44 season-. She was held on lease from her owner, Mr N. R. Souter, of Cambridge. Honeywood displayed her ability to stay in a mile and three furlongs race at Ellerslic, when she ran an outstanding race. She broke down shortly afterwards and was returned to her owner. The luck of the game Is indicated by the fact that when Honeywood was retired to the stud, Mr Adams had the option to purchase her first foal. When a colt was born, it was described by Mr Souter as rather " scrubby" and too small to be expected to reach top class. The option was cancelled and the colt was later named Foxzami.
