2nd NZEF
Successful Flower Show
It was reported at the recent meeting of the 2nd NZEF Association that the spring flower show held at Waipiata had been very successful. The quality of the work displayed had been of a high standard. A letter from Mrs Webb, one of the judges, was read commenting on the quality of the work exhibited, especially the fancy work.
It was decided to endeavour to secure the exhibits and display them to the public of Oamaru in the association’s clubrooms. The receipts from the small admission charge would go to the Sanatorium Welfare Fund. Mr P. McGregor was in the chair.
It was agreed that one executive member and one ordinary member should travel to Waipiata on future bus trips. On past occasions the work of distributing comforts to the 36 returned men had proved too much for one man in the restricted time.
A special meeting of the executive will be held next Tuesday night to consider the organisation of the annual Christmas party for children. The quarterly meeting was set down for Friday, November 11, and the next bus trip to Waipiata for November 13. A circular letter was received from Dominion headquarters on the subject, of a possible repeal of the Land Sales Act and asking branches for their opinion on the matter.—lt was decided that as the subject was a political matter the branch should not comment.
