SATURDAY OPENING OF PETROL STATIONS DECLINED BY TRADE

PA WELLINGTON. Nov. 3. Service stations will not open on Saturdays as a result of the notice issued by the Oil Fuel Controller revoking the Saturday morning closing restrictions, said an official of the New Zealand Retail Motor Trade Association to-day. The hours of emergency stations would be extended however, and in Wellington they woyld be open from 8 a.m. to noon as from next Saturday. Because of rationing and costs and the hours involved, the association has resolved not to open additional stations on Saturdays, he said. Service station employees were already working 54 hours a week and the association did not wish to lengthen their hours.
