BOY’S LIFE SAVED

MAN DIVES INTO RIVER PA WAIROA, Aug. 22. The action of Howard Piesse yesterday resulted in saving the life of a young lad, Dean Strachan, the 6-year-old son of Mr and Mrs D. H. Strachan, Wairoa. The boy was playing near the town wharf when he fell through the decking into the river. Another schoolboy gave the alarm, and Piesse, who was nearby, rushed to the scene and dived in fully clothed, bringing the boy to safety. Had it not been for the plucky action of Piesse, the lad would probably have been drowned.
