LIKELY IMPROVERS
PACERS FOR HUNT MEETING MISCHIEVOUS AND HAUGHTY QUEEN As is usually the case, the two trotting events on the Otago Hunt Club s card have drawn a splendid list of nominations and the fields are certain to be of substantial proportions. The Wingatui Handicap, with a 3min 33sec class, looks a fairly open race, but two of the. lire it horses in Haughty Queen and Mischievous will probably dispute favouritism. The Quite Sure mare Haughty Queen, trained by S. Easton at Oamaru, put up a particularly good performance to win the Waikaura Handicap at the Oamaru Jockey Club's meeting in June. She was not very prominent in the early stages, but finished very solidly, and apparently won with something in hand, giving the impression that she would win in better company. . , . . . Mischievous showed fairly consistent form last season, winning one of.her 11 races and being placed in four of the others. Her win was scored in the second division of the Winter Trot at the Waimate Hunt Club's meeting last month. She gave away 36 yards, led for the last halfmile, and won well.
